ResinX (Pty) Ltd (“ResinX”, “we”, “us”) supplies composite materials, including resins, gelcoats, catalysts and related chemicals, from Libra Close, Brackenfell Industrial, Cape Town. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What we collect and why

We collect only what we need for the purpose you gave it to us.

Quote request form

Your name, email address, delivery area or town, the products and quantities on your quote list and, if you choose to add them, your phone number, company and a message. You must tick the consent box to send it. We use these details to prepare a quote and reply to you. The request is sent by email to the ResinX team.

The form also has a separate, optional box, unticked by default: “Send me occasional product news from ResinX”. You do not need to tick it to request a quote. If you do, we record that you opted in to marketing emails.

Contact form

Your name, email address, message and, optionally, your company and phone number. This form only prepares an email in your browser. Nothing is sent until you open your email app and send it yourself.

Quote list

The products on your quote list are saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device so the list is still there when you return. They are not sent to ResinX until you submit the quote form. You can clear the list, or your browser data, at any time.

Shopping cart and checkout

Our shop uses a Shopify cart and Shopify-hosted checkout. At checkout the details needed to process your order, such as your name, email, phone, delivery address and billing details, are collected and passed to us so we can fulfil the order. Payment is made through secure online payment in our checkout, and we do not see or store your full card details.

Orders and records

If you buy from us we keep order, delivery, invoicing and payment records.

3. Lawful basis

We process personal information where:

• you consent (for example by ticking the consent box on the quote form);
• it is necessary to carry out a contract with you or take steps you asked for before a contract (quotes and orders);
• we must comply with a legal obligation (for example tax and accounting records); or
• it is in our or your legitimate interests and does not unfairly affect your rights (for example preventing fraud and securing the site).

4. Cookies and similar technologies

• Cart cookie. The shopping cart uses one strictly necessary cookie, resinx_shopify_cart, which keeps your cart identifier so your cart persists for up to 30 days. It is not used for tracking or advertising.
• Local storage. Your quote list is kept in your browser’s local storage, as described above.
• Shopify checkout. Shopify’s hosted checkout may set its own cookies for security, fraud prevention and to complete your order.
• This website sets no other cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart may then not work.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. Information is held within ResinX. We use Shopify for the online store, cart and checkout, and an email delivery service to send quote requests to the ResinX team, and these providers handle information only as needed to provide that service. Where such a provider processes information outside South Africa, we rely on POPIA section 72 (adequate protection, a contract, or your consent). We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect rights, safety or property.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricting access to staff who need it. If we become aware of a breach that affects your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

7. How long we keep it

Personal information is kept for 5 years and is held within ResinX. After that it is deleted or de-identified, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

• ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
• ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained;
• withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing already done);
• object to processing on reasonable grounds, and object to direct marketing;
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

9. Marketing

We send marketing emails only with your consent. You can opt in by ticking the optional box on the quote form, and you can opt out at any time by emailing hello@resinx.co.za. Requesting a quote does not sign you up to marketing.

10. Children

This website is for business and trade customers and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
