Frequently asked questions
An epoxy system is a two-part material consisting of an epoxy resin and a hardener (curing agent). When combined in the correct ratio, a chemical reaction cures the system into a hard, high-performance thermoset plastic.
Yes. Epoxy bonds well to cured polyester fibreglass, making it suitable for repair and overlay work on existing polyester structures. The reverse — applying polyester over epoxy — does not work reliably.
With the ResinX epoxy system, the pot life is about 60 minutes and the system is fully cured in about 12 hours.
A sticky surface after cure indicates amine blush (surface contamination from reaction with atmospheric moisture) or an incorrect mix ratio. Amine blush can be washed off with water and a cloth. An incorrect mix ratio cannot be fixed — the laminate must be replaced.
