Solvents are a critical but frequently under-specified part of the composite workflow. Using the wrong solvent on a composite surface before bonding, or contaminating a mould cavity before lamination, causes adhesion failure, surface defects, and compromised interlaminar bonds — problems that often only appear after the part is in service.
ResinX supplies industrial-grade solvents selected for compatibility with composite materials and the safe-handling requirements of a professional workshop.
⚠️ Safe Handling Is Non-Negotiable
Industrial solvents are classified as flammable liquids. They require appropriate storage away from ignition sources, adequate ventilation, and correct PPE (nitrile gloves, eye protection). SDS sheets are available for all solvents we supply — request them with your order.

Acetone
Standard composite workshop solvent. Removes uncured polyester and epoxy resin from brushes, rollers, and mixing equipment. Fast evaporation minimises surface contamination risk during mould preparation.
MEK
More aggressive than acetone for surface preparation and contamination removal. Used for degreasing substrates before adhesive bonding and removing stubborn surface contamination from tooling. (Methyl Ethyl Ketone)
